In today’s hectic world, it is difficult stay focused on what matters because of the hundreds of demands on your attention and time. We automate so much and in the process feel out of control of our lives.
Mindfulness is about awareness
Mindfulness is a practice with thousands of years of history and more recently thousands of research articles supporting its use as a way of building your awareness and focusing on what is important to you. Give it a try.
The practices are about how to develop this awareness which can then be the foundation for filling your life with what is important to you rather than automatically doing what the world demands of you.
Mindful eating is a great place to start because you can build the practice into your day. Some basic principles that you can follow:
– Attend to the moment, what you are smelling, tasting, feeling.
– When you notice yourself drift, just acknowledge that you have drifted and return to your practice.
– Paying attention to the moment, non-judgmentally takes some practice – keep going with it.
